Grey, overcast morning. 3degC outside (don't know how to do that little degree sign!). It's been a cold week on the whole. One day freezing and dangerously slippy outside and the birdbath frozen solid. Despite the dire forecasts its been quiet here and no snow-unlike the Midlands down south especially Yorkshire yesterday and further west. Apparently people were leaving the car engines running to warm up- an open invitation to car-thieves the police said- and no insurance cover for that-
I've just caught up with last week's The Week- (the new one should arrive today). I'm fascinated by the weather information map each week. The week before last the wettest place was in Sutherland (far north) while the coldest was in Oxford, the driest in Wilts and the warmest in Hampshire-and the sunniest down at the tip of Cornwall
