New Year Resolution

It is nearly a year I find since I have ventured to write in this blog! Not sure why. Partly perhaps because I have slowed up, taking each day as it comes and enjoying not having pressure to do something. This means of course that there are many things that stay on my list of things to do indefinitely!
Being snowed in I am seeing as a blessing. I do not have to garden, just enjoy the view and try to keep the birds fed. I've tried to keep the path to my door clear but today it is snowing again and I decided 'that's it', I'll enjoy getting on with reading, writing, sewing and mending, and well- living! So catch up with people, emails and blogs, and maybe phone and snail-mail for those-the majority of friends- who are not using the Internet!
And there is my studies. I completed the module on New Testament almost with regret as I enjoyed doing it and got more deeply into it than I needed to, but Old Testament work is slow getting going as I went to visit my Ugandan friends near Kampala in November and then there was Christmas! My family Christmas is whoever of my friends can come and share; this year there were 7 of us plus Bonny the dog. And New Year I was joined by Marina and Beauty her dog. But now I have space. I do a lot of thinking and meditating and need to write things down before I forget. Short term memory is short I've discovered but writing things down is supposed to help, even if I forget to read what I have recorded.
This was brought home to me this morning. In my last assignment on John's Gospel I had had a lovely time researching the Feast of the Tabernacles, the pool of Siloam as the context in which Jesus invited people to come to him, the one who is the living water. Today (very early) I picked up a book by Dutch Sheets, which I had half read about 2 years ago, and found a whole chapter exploring the significance of all this for our spiritual life. I had read it and even underlined important bits, but have no memory of this at all!
Time for coffee-
