Double-listening

'The London Institute for Contemporary Christianity exists to help thinking Christians engage Biblically, vigorously and in a timely fashion with the issues they face in contemporary society.

LICC's work has been founded on the principle of what John Stott called 'double-listening', listening to the Word and listening to the world.

With this in mind, our multi-disciplinary team seeks to engage both with macro issues - broad social trends, globalisation, the influence of mass media - and with micro issues - how we can live as radical, whole-life disciples in today's world'

I've been a Friend of LICC for quite a while and am always impressed by their work and publications. I have been to a workshop too but it is a long way to go from Edinburgh -though I am pleased that they were recently invited to Glasgow.

It was started by John Stott who was the Rector of All Soul's when I was a student in another time, and is still Rector Emeritus.

Double-listening is wise but not always easy; we usually do one or the other (Word or world) without linking the two.
