Aloe Vera and Tea Tree Oil

It does not seem long ago since I was being told that tea tree oil is the answer to all skin problems. Nowadays it seems to be Aloe Vera!

It was a friend about a year ago who showed me her Aloe Vera plant on her kitchen windowsill. 'It is marvellous if you burn or scold yourself' she told me. Apparently you cut a leaf off near the base and extract the gel to use as you need for minor cuts, abrasions and scalds; the rest of the leaf can be sealed with foil and stored in the fridge. Then when I came across a plant in a garden centre I bought it.

Then a Ugandan friend was looking for the gel to take internally for her skin, so I gave her a leaf to use externally instead!

In Uganda my friend had Aloe Vera plants growing in her garden and on the road into Kampala I saw a sign to an Aloe Vera farm.

Now I use Aloe Vera for burns and scolds and have found it a great help in moisturising the skin (you can get it from some chemists as well herbal or skin care shops). Tea tree oil is apparently good for skin problems like acne.

Now I should make more use of the argan oil from Morocco, given me by a friend. That too seems to be rather special!
