Sun is shining, birds busy, still a few blackberries and even a raspberry; a wall flower(yellow); roses; and me I'm either half-asleep or wishing I could hibernate!
Take Saturday. I was all ready to venture forth to Frances' ordination and the big bash afterwards but remembered I might not be able to park where I do on Sundays; walking is out (ankle tendonitis) but would I get parking near a busstop? While i havered it was too late and I gave up. By the evening I was even less inclined to venture out, it was pouring with rain and there was the walking problem- so I missed Pat's concert even tho I had a ticket. Feel even more cross with myself and go to bed early!
Yesterday I did get to Church, and Frances presided over Communion for the first time; I put up the bookstall-and sold a few books! But I was nicely dozing in front of Song of Praise when Yin came to remind me I'd said I would go with her to the University Carol Concert in McEwan Hall (splendid Victorian round house used for Graduations) So we went and really woke and enjoyed it all,
The place was full and to see the queues trying to get in was great especially since the Student guild has been trying to marginalise or remove Christian groups from University. It's years since I was in that place and i didn't even know the Vice-Chancellor is until he read the last lesson. I was really impressed with Di Williams the Chaplain; she spoke about our vulnerability and challenged us to think deeply about our own--
Back to the Chaplaincy for mince pie and mulled wine which took quite a lot of orienteering to find in the crowd. Most were University Students but I did meet a couple who had come up from Surrey just for the occasion and with contacts here!
We were really glad we went and I did see most of Cranford!
